This is a slideshow video I put together of this day’s section of the JMT on day 1 of my 2017 trip. This section takes me from the start of the trip at Onion Valley trailhead, joining the JMT after going over Kearsarge Pass, and finishing at Charlotte Lake. This first day’s campsite choice made for a good staging area to conquer Glen Pass the next morning. Charlotte Lake made for a wonderful peaceful spacious camp area that many pass by since it’s a mile off-trail. There is a ranger station there but it’s small and out of the way and he’s usually out patrolling the area. There is also a steel bear box at this camp as well, which is always a convenience.
